Witness All the Products Microsoft Has Terminated at the Microsoft Graveyard

Microsoft has built a graveyard where you can see all the products the company has killed and products that are close to being shut down. In fact, the site itself is called Graveyard, and it looks like an ideal tracker with timelines for different products.

Those already closed have a tombstone icon next to them, while those closed in the coming months have a coffin icon. When a product reaches tombstone level, Microsoft has stopped all support for the device/service or application.

The entire site has a black background and all products have a link to their features and usage. Microsoft has also provided information about the product and its kill time.

You’ll see products like the Surface Duo marked with a tombstone and a timeline for 2020-2023. Similarly, you have the Xbox 360 Store and Windows 10, which will lose support by July 2024 and November 2025, respectively. Microsoft has not ruled out any of its products, and even Azure, Visual Studio for Mac get a mention in the follow-up.

As you go down the graveyard list, you’ll see WordPad, Cortana, and even Internet Explorer get a special mention among so many products Microsoft has killed in recent years.

Microsoft isn’t the only tech giant that kills its products often. Google has a solid track record of making these changes, and some of them don’t even match. For example, Stadia was shut down with a simple message to all of its users, informing them of the next activity for their paid account.

Even Apple has a list of products that reach their end of life, and the company puts them on the legacy list forever. So if an iPad or iPhone has run its course and loses official support from Apple, they’re done for the company.
