X Users Can Opt To Only Receive Replies From Verified Sources
X (formerly Twitter) under the leadership of Elon Musk has gone through a transformation. Not only has the name and branding not changed, but the platform has also made other radical changes, including removing the old checkmarks and making them available as part of X Premium (formerly Twitter Blue). Now the platform has experienced yet another change, as it brings the possibility to prevent unverified accounts from replying to your messages.
Simply put, this will prevent any account that is not verified in X from replying to the user’s messages if they enable this setting. This also means that it would be difficult for a large user base of accounts that are not verified but are genuine to their purpose to connect with X’s accounts that have enabled this setting.
Specifically, we checked this change on our unverified Twitter account (which was previously verified) and found that it has been implemented. This means you don’t need to be verified to enable restricted responses. The feature offers four options: Everyone, Verified Accounts, Accounts You Follow, and Only Accounts You Mention.
Elon Musk also posted a message trying to confirm the functionality of this feature. “Confirming confirmation,” Musk sent X.

It remains to be seen what changes unverified users can expect in the long run if important accounts start restricting them from replying and only verified accounts can reply.
In related news, users of X (formerly Twitter) reported seeing ads that had no visual indicators to suggest they were ads. The alleged ads were anonymous and there was no way for users to block or report them, according to a Mashable report.
