200 New Extensions for Android – Get Firefox-y Now!
Mozilla Firefox, commonly referred to as Firefox, is a highly favored internet browser. Since its introduction in 2002, it has remained a formidable competitor to other browsers like Google Chrome, Brave, and Microsoft Edge. Firefox is renowned for its strong emphasis on privacy, providing users with various features including ad blocker extensions, Facebook containers, tracking protection, and more.
The web browser also supports numerous extensions that users can take advantage of. However, it only works on the desktop version of Firefox, but that should change soon.
Firefox get extensions
Firefox announced in a blog post that with the release of Firefox 120, the browser will expand its mobile browser ecosystem on Android devices by allowing up to 200 new extensions at addons.mozilla.org (AMO). A fully open Firefox for Android extension ecosystem may be launched sometime in December.
Firefox claims that while its 200 mobile extensions are more versatile than any other mobile browser, that number is dwarfed by the 40,000+ extensions found in the desktop version.
Firefox’s Scott DeVaney said, “This is also a good time for developers interested in the opportunity to create new ways for Firefox for Android users to fundamentally experience the mobile web. Are there unique browsing problems for the mobile environment that web extensions can solve? How can we improve the mobile web experience with extensions? How can extensions empowering mobile users? It’s an open invitation to innovation.”
Firefox update
The desktop version of Firefox received a major update on October 24, which brought several new features. With the Firefox 119 update, users can now see all open tabs from all windows. Also, if you sync your open tabs, you’ll see all the tabs on other devices. It also now allows you to edit PDF files by adding images and alt text in addition to text and drawings.
If you’re a Chrome user, you can now import some of your extensions too by switching to Firefox. Additionally, Firefox’s browsing history is now listed, and you can sort by date or site.
