32 Companies Selected to Apply for Government’s PLI Scheme for IT Hardware Manufacturing, Including Foxconn, Dell, and Lenovo: Vaishnaw
As of August 30, the state government has received 32 applications, including big names like Foxconn, HP, Dell and Lenovo, to participate in the Production Linked Incentive Scheme 2.0 for IT Hardware by August 30. Major global companies such as Foxconn, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Thompson, Acer and Asus have submitted applications to participate in the scheme. These industry giants are poised to play a major role in revamping India’s IT hardware landscape, and the Center is hoping for major changes similar to those seen in the smartphone sector.
Notably absent from the list of applicants is Apple Inc. But government officials remain optimistic and said the tech giant will join the initiative in the near future. Apple’s possible participation can further strengthen the change potential of the system.

This system of IT hardware covers a wide range of products, including laptops, tablets, all-in-ones, servers and ultra-small devices. It is designed to revive the IT hardware sector, for which the government has allocated a whopping Rs 17,000 crore. this is a sign of commitment to strengthening the sector as well.
It is scheduled to last for six years, helping to provide companies with a stable and favorable environment for making long-term investments and strategic decisions. The scheme also aims to boost the growth of the IT hardware sector with an output value of Rs 3.35 lakh crore. It is also expected to attract additional investment of Rs 2,430 crore, creating an estimated 75,000 direct jobs.
