90% of employees want more ownership and choice at work: Cisco report
Working conditions have changed dramatically since people all over the world started working from home. Now a new report suggests employees want more ownership and choice at work as they get used to working from home.
Cisco recently conducted the Workforce of the Future survey, which included more than 14,000 respondents in 14 markets in the Asia-Pacific region, including more than 1,000 respondents from India. In its report, Cisco said employees see the present tense as a turning point, challenging cultural norms in the workplace.
The survey showed that almost 73% of employees want to keep faster decision-making. The report says that while only 21% of those polled worked from home most of the time before the lockdown, an overwhelming majority now hope to maintain that increased autonomy. Additionally, 90% of employees want more ownership in defining how and when they use office spaces – by combining office work and remote work.
Looking back over the past six months, almost three-quarters, or about 74%, now have a better appreciation of the benefits and challenges of working from home. Positive changes were underway, as nearly 58% of leaders showed increased confidence in their teams to do their jobs well. Additionally, employees were able to better balance work life, with nearly 72% of employees incorporating more exercise into their daily routine. In addition, over 68% of employees want to continue to travel less and use that time more productively.
For this to happen, nearly 82% of employees believe companies need to provide their staff with similar technology at home and in the office. In fact, 73% of employees agree that one of the great benefits of locking is the proof that employees don’t have to be in the same room to collaborate effectively.
The survey also showed that employees believe their company’s 2021 budget priorities should invest in the technologies needed for remote working, bringing in the technology to make the office a healthier space and making the office healthier. improving cybersecurity.
Finally, the survey showed that employees of all ages are also clamoring for a skills upgrade, and nearly 84% believe more training on technology and digital skills will be critical to business success in 2021.
