Google Software Engineer Makes 1.2 Crore Per Hour Working One Day

According to a new report by Fortune, a Google software engineer known as Devon claims to earn a whopping $150,000 a year (roughly Rs. 1.2 billion) by working just one hour a day.

According to the report, Devon is focusing more on his startup instead of spending a lot of time on coding. He wakes up at 9 a.m., does his morning routine, works at Google until about 11 a.m. or noon, and spends the rest of the day working on his startup. He worked the same way during his internship at Google, earning $2,000 a week and working less than two hours a day.

Although Google expects its employees to work full-time, Devon has reportedly managed to avoid detection by delivering quality work in a short amount of time.

To maintain the illusion of more work, he sometimes sends extra lines of code. Devon also mentioned that his manager is “cool” when he doesn’t come to the office. Google has made it mandatory for employees to work on certain days of the week, but the final decision rests with reporting managers.

“I’m sure Google will send me emails at some point saying I’m not allowed to sign in, but I don’t even care until I get a warning,” he told Fortune. Google’s average base salary for software engineers is nearly $7,18,000 per year, according to Business Insider. By these standards, this engineer is quite low, but he also puts in fewer hours compared to others.

Devon is not alone in his work habits. Jason, 22, previously told Business Insider that he worked two full-time remote jobs for up to 30 hours a week to supplement his income. “I felt that my workload at my first job was low enough and I knew that if I couldn’t handle it, I could simply quit one job,” Jason said.
