YouTube’s English help discussion group disables messages and new comments
Google-owned YouTube has disabled new posts and comments from its English help group as it moves to read-only mode ahead of “improvements” over the next few months.
The English community forum has always been a place where users and creators can discuss YouTube with each other and share tips and ideas to help each other get the most out of YouTube products and services.
“Unfortunately, many threads are not relevant to user-oriented discussion and many questions remain unanswered. Our goal is to make sure this is a useful space for all of you, so we are using this time and these experiments to create a long-term plan for this forum – more to come,” says YouTube on the help page.
However, the company said the update only applies to this YouTube English community forum.
No changes have been made to other YouTube forums for other languages or specific products, as these separate forums host high-quality user questions and user-specific discussions.
In addition, the company mentioned that it may update the appearance of the homepage, including class boards and the organization of message threads.
Meanwhile, YouTube Music will soon bring podcasts to the app in the US.
“We will soon begin bringing both audio and video podcasts to YouTube Music for US users, making podcasts more discoverable and accessible, with more regions to come,” a YouTube spokesperson said.
