Fitbit App Receives Major Upgrade – Check Out the New Coach Tab, Customization Options, and More!
Google has introduced a significant overhaul to its Fitbit app just before the Made by Google event, where the Google Pixel 8 series and the Pixel Watch 2 are anticipated to be launched. This revamp could have a significant impact on users, as it offers customizable windows, improved data viewing, and an off-device tracking mode to ensure no activities go unnoticed. Notably, this marks the first major redesign for the platform, which was deemed necessary due to the removal of social features. Let’s delve into the details.
Announcing the new redesigned Fitbit app, Google said in a blog post: “The redesigned Fitbit app launches today. The new, simplified app is now easier to use and organized around three tabs – Today, Coach and You – to bring you the health and wellness information that’s important to you and In total, the new changes can be divided into five different categories.
Fitbit app redesign: 5 new changes
The first big change that users will see in the Fitbit app is that it is now possible to track physical activities even without the device. In the past, users had to use either a Fitbit device or a Google Pixel Watch to log physical activity, but that’s no longer the case. The new Today screen can do this automatically when connected to your smartphone. The application can independently count the steps taken while walking and monitor your exercise during exercise. Of course, more complex functions and health sensors would require a Fitbit device.
Next, the Today tab also gets customization options. Users can now customize the stats and metrics they see. This allows users to set their screen according to their own health goals, whether it’s to exercise, sleep better, manage stress or something else, and check the statistics that matter most to them. Users can change the statistic by tapping the “edit” button and substituting the information they want.
A new Trainer tab has also been added to help users find the right workout for them. Users can quickly filter workouts based on workout type, duration, equipment needed, instructor, and more to enjoy a versatile workout routine and keep it flexible. Google has said that fresh content will be added regularly for both physical and mindfulness exercises. Subscribing to Fitbit Premium unlocks even more content, such as HIIT classes, dance cardio classes, and new Alo Moves and Tone It Up workouts.
The new design includes easy-to-understand information on the gauges and highlights patterns to help users understand their health and wellness information.
Finally, the app has also added easy-to-use privacy controls that allow users to manage their data and control what is saved and shared.
