Stunning Image of Galaxy 28 Million Light-Years Away Captured by NASA’s Hubble Telescope

NASA’s Hubble Telescope has continuously captured astonishing images of celestial objects and galaxies throughout its existence. The telescope’s discoveries have been so numerous that it is impossible to list them all. However, it is worth mentioning that Hubble has played a crucial role in unraveling the evolution and formation of galaxies, revealing the prevalence of supermassive black holes within them, and mapping the enigmatic dark matter that constitutes the majority of the universe’s mass and structure. Once again, Hubble has exceeded expectations by capturing a breathtaking image of the Sombrero Galaxy, situated approximately 28 million light-years away from Earth and positioned on the southern edge of the Virgo cluster. About the Sombrero Galaxy

NASA shared a post on Instagram that showed off the Sombrero Galaxy in the best way possible. It is unfathomable to see something truly beautiful that is millions of light years away. The capabilities of the Hubble telescope are unfathomable as a way to capture galaxies. The picture shows a galaxy in different shades: blue, green, orange and red. NASA’s post also shared some facts about the Sombrero Galaxy, which the image was captured by the Hubble Telescope and the Spitzer Space Telescope. It mentioned that the Spitzer Space Telescope was responsible for capturing the different hues and Hubble helped capture the image with visible light.

According to NASA, the Sombrero Galaxy is 50,000 light-years across, which is half the size of the Milky Way. Experts also believe that there may be a massive black hole at the center of the galaxy, which may have a mass greater than our Sun.

The caption said: “The left and right edges of the Sombrero galaxy appear red, the center of the rings appears yellow-green, and the center of the galaxy appears pale blue with a white core. Stars and galaxies appear as dots across the image.”

About the Hubble Space Telescope

The space telescope is named after the astronomer Edwin Hubble. It was launched in 1990 and is parked in Earth orbit. During its 30 years of operation, the telescope’s features have been developed by adding new instruments. The last space shuttle to visit Hubble was Atlantis on May 11, 2009. According to NASA, Hubble has made more than 1.5 million observations since its launch.
