Apple Unveils iOS 17.1 Developer Beta: What’s Included

Apple has released the first developer beta of iOS 17.1, along with some new features that didn’t make it to the final release of iOS 17. This developer beta update comes about two weeks after iOS 17 was released for compatible iPhones. iOS 17.1 is compatible with all iPhones that support iOS 17. This means that all iPhones released in 2018 and later will receive iOS 17.1 when the public version is released.

What’s new in iOS 17.1 Developer Beta:

AirDrop with Mobile Data: With iOS 17.1, users can start AirDrop transfers without Wi-Fi and only need mobile data to transfer media. This is useful when Wi-Fi isn’t available when you’re trying to AirDrop.

NameDrop for Apple Watch: iOS 17.1 allows users to transfer contacts between iPhone and Apple Watch running WatchOS 10.1.

New ringtones removed: Apple has removed certain new ringtones that it introduced with iOS 17 in the new iOS 17.1 beta, but they are expected to return in the upcoming version.

Apple Music Updates: Now when you add new songs to your playlists, Apple will recommend similar songs based on them. Apple now also allows users to listen to their favorite songs, albums, artists and playlists and create their own playlist folders.

Dynamic Island Flashlight Indicator: With iOS 17.1, Apple also brings support for Dynamic Island, which shows that the flashlight is on on iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 Pro as well. Previously, this was only reserved for the iPhone 15 Pro.
