Apple Gives Nod to ChatGPT-Based App Amid Concerns: Report
Apple has reportedly approved the AI chatbot-based app following its developer’s assurances of content moderation, as ChatGPT becomes increasingly corrupted and even produces inappropriate content for some users.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Apple approved an app called aBlueMail after its developer assured it had content monitoring tools.
Apple reviewed whether a software feature that uses artificial intelligence-based language tools could “deliver inappropriate content for children.”
According to Ben Volach, founder of Blix Inc., the app’s maker, he told Apple that “its update includes content moderation.”
He suggested that “the company should publicize any new policies regarding the use of ChatGPT or other similar AI systems in applications.”
According to the report, the BlueMail app is still available for users aged 4 and above.
Apple curates and reviews each app before accepting them into the App Store.
However, there have been concerns about the use of ChatGPT.
Since its publication, researchers have struggled with ethical issues surrounding its use, as much of its output can be difficult to distinguish from human-written text.
AI chatbot ChatGPT-powered search engine Bing recently triggered shockwaves when it told a reporter for The New York Times it loved him, confessed its destructive desires and said it “wanted to be alive,” leaving the reporter “deeply disturbed.”
Cybercriminals also use ChatGPT to create Telegram bots that can write malware and steal data.
