Twitter to Open Source Its Algorithm Next Week: Elon Musk
Twitter CEO Elon Musk said Wednesday that the microblogging platform will “open source” its algorithm next week and improve it “rapidly.”
When Musk tweeted, “Say what you want about me, but I bought the world’s largest nonprofit for $44 billion.”
One user commented: “Right. Open source it now, we’re really impressed.”
“Prepare to be disappointed at first when our algorithm is open sourced next week, but it will improve quickly!” Twitter’s CEO responded.
Last week, Musk had said that the microblogging platform would offer users the ability to adjust the algorithm for their “closer match” “over the coming months.”
Meanwhile, the microblogging platform has announced that users will receive a “heads up” notification if a community note appears in a tweet they’ve replied to, liked or retweeted.
The company tweeted from its @CommunityNotes account: “Starting today, you’ll be alerted if a community note starts appearing in a tweet you’ve replied to, liked or retweeted. This helps give people additional context they might otherwise miss.”
