Apple iPhone 16 To Include Innovative ‘Capture’ Button
After bringing a new action button to the latest iPhone 15 series, Apple is now planning to add an extra button to the upcoming iPhone 16 models, which are expected to be released in September 2024.
Future iPhone 16 models may be equipped with an extra button, according to Weibo leaker Instant Digital, which has previously shared specific details about Apple’s plans, MacRumors reports.
According to the report, Apple internally calls this button the “Capture Button,” but it’s still unclear what exactly it’s used for. The button is located below the power button on the right side of the device and is a capacitive button instead of a regular button.
Sources at MacRumors have reported that the new button is set to roll out to all iPhone 16 models, including the base iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models.
The report also revealed that Instant Digital claimed there is a strong possibility of an additional button, and the Cupertino-based tech giant also plans to move the mmWave antenna from the left side of the device to the right to accommodate the change.
Additionally, the rumored iPhone 16 Pro Action Button is expected to be embedded, and Apple is planning to switch to solid-state technology for this button, as opposed to the current standard button design.
While changes to the function button are expected, no changes are currently expected to the volume keys and power keys. These buttons are not solid-state buttons, but Apple’s intentions may evolve, the report says.
Another earlier report revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest cellular modem that offers faster and better 5G connectivity.
According to technology analyst Jeff Pu, the Pro model in 2024 will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem. However, the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus retain the Snapdragon X70 modem used by the entire iPhone 15 lineup.
