What’s the Price Tag for Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max? Find Out Now!
The iPhone 15 Pro Max costs a good Rs 20,000 more than the Pro variant this year, while its starting price of $1,199 for the base 256GB variant shows that the prices of the phones have gotten out of hand.
But how much does it cost Apple to make the new 15 Pro Max version? We finally have some answers to this, and some interesting details have come via a new report from Counterpoint Research.
According to the company, Apple had to raise the price of the 15 Pro Max due to the higher cost of the new A17 chipset and the use of a new telephoto sensor. It says the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a Bill of Materials (BoM) of $502, which is more than half of what Apple charges buyers for the model. The report mentions that Apple had to pay $37 more to manufacture the iPhone 15 Pro Max compared to its predecessor.
Every year we see these reports that highlight the true cost of the new iPhones, and then we ask, how does that cost $1,199 to consumers? Well, the company has to add marketing, packaging and other costs when the device comes to market. Details in the report also suggest that the cost of RAM (memory) and display was lower than what Apple paid to make the iPhone 14 Pro Max last year.
Here in India, iPhone 15 Pro Max prices have continued to rise this year and it has more to do with the import duties and other taxes that Apple has to pay for importing the devices. The company has managed to stabilize the prices of the iPhone 15 model in India and in the next few years, people can benefit from a similar change to the Pro Maxes as well.
