Apple is ramping up production in China, suggesting that the launch of Apple Vision Pro may happen in a matter of weeks.
The Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset was announced in June earlier this year. At that time, the iPhone manufacturer revealed that the device will be launched in early 2023. Now, as Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports, Apple could potentially bring the headphones to market in just a few weeks — in February 2024.
According to the report, the company is accelerating the production of headphones at full capacity in factories in China. This effort is in line with Apple’s goal of having “customer-connected units” ready by the end of January, with a later release in February.
This information also matches Gurman’s earlier report that Apple coached and trained its store employees to do so. Apple aims to simplify the Vision Pro installation process for its customers. Incorrect settings can also affect the overall user experience.
Another sign that points to an imminent release is Apple’s recent announcement of the ability to record spatial videos on iPhone 15 Pro models with the iOS 17.2 update. This feature was added for users to enjoy immediately after purchasing Vision Pro.
However, it is important to note that the device will initially be exclusive to the US market and will be priced at $3,499, roughly Rs 2.9 lakh. The timetable for its availability in other parts of the world, such as Europe and India, remains uncertain, as Apple’s retail outlets will require significant efforts.
