Apple Vision Pro to receive support for ‘Spatial Games’ and a library of 150 3D movies.
Apple announced that the Vision Pro Mixed Reality Headset will be available starting February 2nd in the US. And while we already knew a lot about the construction and specifications of the headset, as well as exclusive features such as the ability to play “Spatial videos” shot on the iPhone 15 Pro models, there was little information until now about the entertainment options offered by Apple.
In addition to Vision Pro pre-order and availability information, Apple also announced new movies and games coming to the headset. These include more than 150 3D titles on the Apple TV app, as well as movies and TV shows from services like Disney+ and Max. All this content is displayed at a pixel count greater than 4K resolution for each eye. Apple is also introducing a new video format called “Immersive Video” that allows users to watch videos in a 180-degree setting. 3D 8K recordings can also be recorded with Spatial Audio.
In addition, Apple is adding support for more than 250 games to Apple Arcade, a popular subscription service that lets you play games for free every month. Some games include NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition and Sonic Dream Team. You can play these games on any screen size and they support popular game controllers.
Apple is also introducing a new category of games called “Spatial Games”, which includes the likes of What the Golf?, Super Fruit Ninja and Game Room. Apple says these games utilize the powerful capabilities of Apple Vision Pro to transform the space around players, providing unique and immersive gaming experiences.
Keep in mind that it’s unclear if these titles and games will be included with subscriptions like Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade, or if you’ll have to pay extra to access them.
