Nintendo Announces Official End Date for Online Services on These Consoles
If you own a Nintendo Wii or 3DS handheld console, you may be aware that the Japanese gaming giant announced that it will shut down its online servers for these devices in April 2024. Nintendo has also announced that they must transfer all remaining trade balances to link them to their Nintendo Account by March 11th at 10:00 PM PT. Once linked, this balance can be used to purchase games on Nintendo Switch. For previous purchases, users can still download purchased games and update information and download DLC from the Nintendo eShop.
However, this change will not only affect the entire user base of 75 million Nintendo 3DS owners, but also about 13 million Nintendo Wii U users.
