iPhone 7 Owners in This Country Could Receive Up to Rs 29,000 in Good News from Apple
In 2023, Apple reached a $35 million settlement to resolve a lawsuit accusing the company of audio problems with the iPhone 7 series, specifically related to a faulty chip in the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. And now Apple has begun the notification process for eligible customers, but with a few caveats.
As MacRumors discovered, this reimbursement is firstly only available to US residents who owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016 and January 3, 2023. In addition, they must have reported audio problems to Apple. or the costs incurred for repair or replacement of the sound problems mentioned in the claim.
This means that this allowance is not for those residing in India. So, if you are a resident of India and have similar problems, you are not out of luck.
The lawsuit’s settlement page defines the criteria: “You may be eligible for this Settlement as a member of the ‘Settlement Class’ and eligible to receive a payment called a ‘class settlement’ if you owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016 and 3 January 2023, and you have either complained to Apple about a problem covered by the Settlement or paid Apple for a repair or replacement covered by the Settlement.”
Those who have not received the official email but believe they are eligible can contact info@smartphoneaudiosettlement.com. The deadline for applying for settlement money is June 3.
As for compensation, users who paid for full repairs out of pocket can get up to $349, while users who experienced problems but didn’t do the repairs themselves can get up to $125. It is important to understand that these settlements are based on the approval of the California court on July 18th.
