Twitter CEO Elon Musk stated Wednesday that only verified accounts will be allowed to appear in For You recommendations, clarifying that users will still see tweets in the For You tab from people they directly follow.
Musk tweeted: “I forgot to mention that the accounts you follow directly are also on For You because you specifically requested them.”
Several users expressed their thoughts on Musk’s message.
One user said: “There’s already a tab for that, it’s called Following. And as you’d expect, it shows you tweets from accounts you follow.”
Another commented: “Just show me the top tweets, not the ones that paid. this is the core of the product.”
On Tuesday, the tech billionaire had said that only verified accounts would be allowed to appear in For You recommendations starting April 15.
Meanwhile, Musk had said on Monday that paid verification would increase the cost of bots by 10,000 percent and make it easier to identify bots over the phone, so paid accounts are the only social media that matter.
