Anticipated Features at Apple WWDC 2024: AI-enhanced iOS 18 and Mac Studio among the highlights
As the time approaches for Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), speculation is mounting about what the tech giant may reveal. While the exact dates for WWDC 2024 have yet to be confirmed, Apple is anticipated to announce a range of software and hardware updates, as is tradition. The event is likely to take place at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Apple Park, Cupertino, California, as it does every year. Reports suggest that iOS 18 may take center stage at this year’s conference, with numerous artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements expected, but there could be even more in store. From iOS 18 to the rumored Mac Studio, here’s a preview of what we can expect to see at Apple WWDC 2024.
WWDC 2024 Expected Announcements
1. iOS 18 – While not confirmed, iOS 18 is pretty much nailed down to be unveiled at WWDC 2024 and is likely to be one of the main highlights. This is due to several AI updates in the pipeline. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says it could be one of the “biggest updates in iPhone history.” Apple could unveil Siri based on Large Language Models (LLM), while AI could be incorporated into apps like Music, Keynote, Pages and even AppleCare.
2. Other software – in addition to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 18 and HomePod Software 18 will probably also see the light of day. In addition, Apple may also announce visionOS 2, the software that runs on the Apple Vision Pro headset.
3. Mac Studio, Mac Pro and other devices – Like last year, Apple may take the wraps off its new generation of Mac devices, including the Mac Studio, Mac Pro and Mac Mini, all of which can be powered by the new M3 chip. The iPhone maker also introduced the 15-inch MacBook Air last year, but the reveal is unlikely this time as the M3-powered MacBook Air was already released earlier this month.
Note that most of this information is just speculation and based on unofficial reports. Therefore, it should be taken with a pinch of salt. For a glimpse of everything Apple has to offer, check out WWDC 2024 when it comes around.
