Tim Cook confirms launch of Apple Vision Pro in China, but what about India?
The Apple Vision Pro headset will be available in China this year, and the update is said to have been shared by the company’s Tim Cook. Cook recently visited China, where he is rumored to meet with the Baidu team and launch a new Apple Store in the region.
Cook’s Vision Pro for China update was released via Weibo, hinting at the headset’s availability in May or June of this year, which is just a few months away. China is a big market for Apple, but its fortunes in iPhone sales have weakened over the past quarter due to the threat of local Huawei.
Cook’s visit to the region is not a coincidence in this respect, but the update on the launch of Vision Pro in the country makes consumers happy. Apple is also expected to expand the reach of its mix reality headset in other parts of the world, but still there is no sign of launching the premium gadget in India.
Apple has begun to consider the Indian market as a strong alternative to China for its production needs, and it plans to expand the production line beyond the iPhone and manufacture MacBooks and iPads in the country in the next few years.
The first Vision Pro model will cost more than 3 lakhs, which may prevent Apple from launching it in India, but the company seems to have tracked the high interest in the product, which may force the brand to change its plans eventually.
The Vision Pro has created excitement among many, and early reviews have spoken of the wonder of the gadget, which has many drawbacks that need to be improved with the second-generation model. The VisionOS platform is largely unique, but Meta thinks its Quest headphones are better and cheaper than those from Apple’s gallery.
