Redmi smartwatch with circular display will launch today
Xiaomi will launch the new Redmi Note 9 series in China today. A new Redmi smartwatch is also expected to launch alongside the new Redmi Note 9 phones. The company has announced that the Redmi smartwatch will feature a square dial.
Redmi CEO Lu Weibing shared a smartwatch teaser confirming that the launch will take place today. No other details of the Redmi Watch have been revealed except that it will have a square dial. There is speculation that this Redmi smartwatch could be a rebranded Mi Watch Lite which has also been spotted as an affordable version of Mi Watch.
Based on this assumption, we can expect the Redmi smartwatch to have a 1.4 inch display. It will be waterproof up to 50 meters with monitoring of swimming performance as well as other sports and activities. The Redmi smartwatch will also have built-in GPS, a heart rate sensor, and a 240mAh battery.
While we will see a new smartwatch, the highlight of the event will be the new Redmi Note 9 smartphones. Xiaomi is expected to launch Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 9 5G today. Besides 5G, the new Redmi Note 9 phones are also expected to come with four rear cameras, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a punch-hole selfie camera.
Another smartphone is expected with 4G. These would be upgraded models from the Redmi Note 9 series launched earlier this year. It is not known if Xiaomi will market these phones in other markets.
