Apple Launches iOS 16.5.1 Update With Bug Fixes and Additional Features
Apple, the tech giant from the United States, has launched the iOS 16.5.1 update that contains crucial security enhancements and is highly recommended for all users. Additionally, it resolves an issue that could hinder charging when using the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter.
According to previous reports, the camera adapter did not work with iPhones and iPads updated to iOS 16.5, as the adapter was unable to power the connected devices. iOS 16.5.1 comes more than a month after Apple released iOS 16.5.
Apple also released the iOS 16.5.1 update, which includes security improvements. According to Apple’s security document, two vulnerabilities that could have been used by hackers and bad actors to attack the system have been patched.
A kernel vulnerability that could lead to arbitrary code execution with kernel privileges was fixed with an improved integer overflow input.
According to MacRumors, Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited against iOS versions released prior to iOS 15.7, so you’re probably safe if you’re running iOS 16. There is also a WebKit vulnerability that could allow maliciously crafted web content to execute code, and Apple has received a report that the issue may have been actively exploited.
