Learn How to Utilize Meta-owned Threads App, a Twitter Alternative
Threads, a messaging app recently introduced by Meta, poses a direct competition to Twitter. This app aims to streamline text-based conversations and is being marketed as Instagram’s exclusive platform for text-based communication.
Threads is now available for free download from the Apple App Store and Google Play in over 100 countries, according to Meta’s official blog post. The app has a similar visual style to Twitter, allowing users to post short messages that can be liked, shared, and commented on. In fact, when asked by The Verge, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri admitted that threads are “kind of like” tweets. And this has started a debate about whether they should be called “threes” instead of tweets, as used in Twitter posts. Screenshots available from the Apple App Store reveal the Threads interface.
How to use a thread on Instagram
To use Threads, you must have an Instagram account and log in with your Instagram credentials. Your Instagram username will be transferred to Threads, but you can create a personal profile. However, users under the age of 18 in the UK will have a private profile by default.
With Thread, you can easily follow the same accounts they already follow on Instagram with just a few clicks. When you create a post or thread, you can choose who sees it, whether it’s the whole world or just your followers.
