DIYers Can Now Invest in a $1,000 Cutting Machine with the Cricut Venture
Cricut, a renowned manufacturer of cutting machines used for crafting, has unveiled a new model. While the company’s existing devices are reasonably priced, the newly introduced Cricut Venture is a premium machine priced at $1,000, targeting “extremely passionate creators and individuals who monetize their crafts.” Essentially, this version is designed for dedicated makers or small enterprises that sell their handmade products, particularly on platforms like Etsy, rather than casual hobbyists.
The Cricut Venture is a “big size” cutting machine that can handle larger projects – whether it’s physical size or higher volume. The device, the company’s largest to date, can cut up to 75 feet of repetitive images and 12 feet of single images. Cricut says it’s also its fastest machine, cutting up to 25 inches per second. “Cricut Venture is optimized for size and speed,” said Michelle Fishberg, director of global product management at Cricut. “You’ll find the beautiful design and quality that Cricut is known for, increased precision and attention to detail, making cutting with this large format machine an easy and productive experience.”
Like the company’s other models, the Cricut Venture can handle materials such as vinyl, iron-on cardstock, bonded fabric, leather, and poster board. ReturnByte’s Terrence O’Brien reviewed the printer-sized Explore 3 in 2021 and found it worked well for projects like vinyl decals and cardboard animals (which he may or may not ever fully assemble). However, these machines are limited more by the user’s experience of the craft than the technology: The company lists banners, engraved metal, surface leather, custom cards, t-shirts and color stickers among the jobs it can handle.
The Cricut Venture will be available from the company’s website and retailers starting July 25. Its $1,000 sticker price is just for the machine; Cricut also offers bundles with stands or materials to help you get started.
