Amazon tells court Parler should stay closed after riot
Amazon.com Inc. urged a judge not to order the company to restore web hosting service to Talking LLC, the conservative social media platform.
Amazon Web Services has suspended its hosting service for Talk after it was used by supporters of President Donald Trump to organize the storming of the U.S. Capitol last week.
Parler filed a lawsuit, asking a federal judge to order AWS to immediately restore its web hosting. Amazon opposed the decision on Tuesday night.
Forcing AWS to host content that plans, encourages and incites violence would be unprecedented, the company said in a filing.
Talking has no chance of winning out over substance, and the balance between actions and the public interest leans heavily against an injunction. The motion for a temporary restraining order should be dismissed.
