Android Could Get Google’s Version of Apple’s Device-Linking Feature
Google is reportedly planning to introduce a new Android feature that will allow users to connect their different Android devices, similar to Apple’s Continuity feature.
According to Android expert Mishaal Rahman, the feature could allow Android devices logged into the same Google account to communicate with each other.
“You may soon be able to ‘link your [Android] devices’ that are signed in to the same Google Account. This will enable ‘call switching’, which allows you to switch between devices for calls, as well as ‘internet sharing,'” Rahman wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.
It could introduce features such as “Call Switching” that allows users to switch between connected devices during calls, and “Internet Sharing” that allows users to quickly set up a personal hotspot between connected devices, according to Android Authority.
Rahman claimed that a new Link Your Device menu will appear under Settings > Google > Devices & Sharing when the feature is officially rolled out.
Apple has a similar feature called “iPhone Mobile Calls” that allows users to make and receive calls from other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID, as long as they are on the same network as the user’s iPhone.
Meanwhile, Google has announced the introduction of a new feature that will allow users to highlight or highlight key content when presenting in Google Slides.
“With the new pen tool, you can circle, underline, draw connections, and take quick notes right into the presentation,” the company said in a Workspace Updates blog post.
Annotations can make user presentations more interesting, interactive, and impactful, whether it’s a board meeting or a brainstorming session. Users can also delete annotations using the eraser tool in the bottom left menu.
