Apple introduces iOS 17.3 featuring enhanced device protection against theft and the addition of collaborative playlists.
On Monday, January 22, Apple released the iOS 17.3 update for all compatible iPhone models. This update includes a number of improvements – notably improving security by enabling Stolen Device Protection. In addition, it addresses various bug-related issues, provides important security improvements, and introduces a visually appealing Unity wallpaper.
The standout aspect of this feature is its enhanced anti-theft security measures. These steps will help protect your phone when thieves try to steal your iPhone and access important apps like iCloud, banking apps, private emails, and more. The effectiveness comes from the requirement that thieves not only enter your lock screen password, but also scan Face ID or Touch ID without a fallback password when trying to access important apps or saved passwords.
Additionally, with the introduction of the “Security Delay” feature, Apple also imposes a one-hour waiting period followed by successful biometric authentication as a prerequisite for performing sensitive operations.
In terms of aesthetics and quality of life features, Apple has launched a brand new Unity wallpaper to honor black history and culture. Additionally, iOS now includes collaborative playlists that allow users to send invitations to friends and join playlists. In particular, this feature allows all participants to add, reorder, and delete songs, promoting a shared music experience. Additionally, users can add Emoji reactions to collaborative playlists to improve engagement and personal expression.
In addition, Apple introduces AirPlay hotel support. This feature allows users to stream content directly to televisions in specific hotel rooms and expand their entertainment options while traveling. In addition, users can now conveniently check the status of AppleCare & Warranty protection for all Apple devices registered to their Apple ID and ensure that they have the necessary protection and support.
