Apple iOS 15 Compatibility List Rumored: iPhones SE, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus Might Not Make the Cut
It has often happened before with each new version of iOS, Apple has eliminated its iPhone models that launched five years ago (or perhaps older) from the compatibility list. And with iOS 15, the next big version of the operating system due to arrive next year, the same could happen. According to a report by The Verifier, three iPhone models could be eliminated from the list: iPhone SE (first generation), iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The trio are there in the iOS 14 eligibility list and have received operating system updates. However, this could be the last major update for them.
But that will also mean that the iOS 15 compatibility lineup will also feature four new iPhone 13 models. So the possible eligibility list for iOS 15 might look like this:
IPhone lineup -2021 (iPhone 13)
-iPhone 12 Pro Max
-iPhone 12 Pro
-iPhone-12 mini
-iPhone 12
-iPhone 11
-iPhone-11 Pro
-iPhone 11 Pro Max
-iPhone XS
-iPhone-XS Max
-iPhone XR
-iPhone X
-iPhone 8
-iPhone 8 Plus
-iPhone 7
-iPhone 7 Plus
-iPhone SE (2nd generation)
-iPod touch (7th generation)
Of course, there is no official announcement and we won’t know the compatibility until iOS 15 is announced later next year. So, we’ll take this with a pinch of salt for now.
It could also be that the list remains intact while including new iPhones. In case you haven’t noticed, iOS 13 and iOS 14 support iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus, which means no iPhones have been removed from both lists. .
However, we expect Apple to remove all three of these as the company is slowly moving towards a bezel-less iPhone design and the latest iOS versions are primarily designed for larger screens from corner to corner instead of those that come with massive bezels as seen in iPhone SE, 6s, 7 and 8 series.
