Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus to Feature 48MP Camera
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the upcoming iPhone 15 series will see significant camera improvements in the base models for the first time. Kuo claims that the lower-end iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models, set to be released later this year, will be equipped with a 48MP rear camera lens. This new camera will feature a stacked sensor design, allowing for enhanced light capture capabilities.
According to the analyst, Apple solved the new camera sensor’s yield problems by cooperating with supplier Sony, which increased production capacity to meet Apple’s demand. As a result, the supply of Android partners was significantly reduced.
Apple first introduced a 48-megapixel camera lens on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max last year. This lens allows users to shoot 48MP ProRAW photos, providing more detail and flexibility for editing the image file. For comparison, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus of the same year used a 12-megapixel camera lens.
Kuo’s report confirms the claim of Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu, who mentioned in May that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus would feature a new triple-layer sensor with a 48-megapixel lens that captures more light to improve image quality.
Initially, Pu had expressed concerns about possible yield issues with the stacked sensor, which could lead to delays in the production of the iPhone 15 series. However, the latest report from Kuos shows that Apple has solved these problems.
Another report recently revealed that the iPhone 15 series will come in new color options and larger batteries. According to the report, the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may come in a new green color option. This finish would be similar to the green versions of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11. The vanilla model was previously thought to be pink and light blue.
The report also includes self-created renders of the vanilla iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus in new shades of green, light blue, and red. It also claimed that the iPhone 15 will have an 18 percent larger battery, the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro will have a 14 percent larger battery, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a 12 percent larger battery.
