Apple iPhone 15 Users Experiencing Issues with CarPlay Functionality
After several iPhone 15 users reported issues with CarPlay functionality, a new report suggests that this issue is likely related to the move to USB-C,
According to a MacRumors report, users are unable to get CarPlay to work with their new devices. CarPlay reports often revolve around cable types and available ports. Many problems are related to using USB-A to USB-C cables because some cars, including newer models, have USB-A ports instead of USB-C ports, so a USB-A to USB-C cable is needed.
However, it seems that not all USB-A to USB-C cables on the market will work, and some that work in certain vehicles won’t work in others.
“I got in my car this morning and plugged my phone in with a USB-A to USB-C cable to use Carplay, but I found it won’t connect. It charges but not Carplay. In my phone’s Carplay settings, it says my car name as if it’s connected, but nothing is showing on the screen,” MacRumors quoted a Reddit user as saying.
“I work at a dealership, so I tried it on several different cars, but nothing worked. My car doesn’t have USB-C ports, so I tried the Apple-supplied C-C cable on the 2023 and it worked without a problem. So it looks like either USB-A-USB-C doesn’t allow Carplay, or it simply doesn’t work with non-Apple chargers anymore,” the user said.
Other CarPlay users shared similar issues, but some were able to get it working using Belkin’s USB-A to USB-C cables. A few managed to get CarPlay to work with the USB-A port using Belkin’s BoostCharge USB-A to USB-C cable, but not everyone had the same luck.
The report suggested that it’s best to try different cables to get CarPlay working, especially those from reputable brands that support data transfer. However, it’s important to mention that some people couldn’t get iPhone 15 CarPlay to work even with Apple’s own adapters and cables.
