Apple’s strategy to enhance Vision Pro Headset involves acquiring this startup
Apple plans to buy a German artificial intelligence startup – Brighter AI, which specializes in anonymizing facial and license plate data, according to a media outlet.
Citing sources, according to 9to5Mac, the tech giant aims to use this acquisition to improve the privacy features of its Mix reality (MR) headset Vision Pro.
Apple is reportedly considering using Brighter AI technology to minimize the risk of Apple Vision Pro capturing identifiable information from public photos or videos.
These concerns are usually not present when using footage on the iPhone. However, the Apple Vision Pro may raise concerns because it can capture video more subtly than smartphones.
This technology could also be useful in future devices that make capturing photos and videos less noticeable. When capturing media with Vision Pro, a subtle visual cue appears on the front panel, the report states.
Brighter AI offers advanced artificial intelligence technology that can remove all traces of data without obscuring it, which makes the acquisition of the company particularly interesting. According to the report, the method used by Brighter AI preserves the natural appearance of objects while preserving their unrecognizability.
Instead, Brighter AI can alter images so that objects are no longer recognizable. It achieves this while maintaining a natural appearance.
Meanwhile, Apple officially announced the Vision Pro in the US on February 2nd. It starts at $3,500.
The technology giant has announced more than 600 apps and games designed for the Apple Vision Pro headset.
