Bing ChatGPT Widget Now Accessible on iPhone Home Screens
Microsoft, the tech giant headquartered in the US, has been diligently integrating Bing Search with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Recently, the company unveiled a fresh update to the Bing app for iOS gadgets, featuring novel widgets that provide a convenient shortcut to Bing Chat – Microsoft’s chatbot that employs GPT technology.
The new update to the Bing app for iOS includes two new home screen widgets. These new widgets allow users to start a conversation with a single tap. Previously, these widgets were only available for Android.
“We’ve released a new Bing Chat widget that you can add to iOS. Once installed, you can start a chat from your home screen. If you have an iOS device, instructions for adding widgets to your home screen can be found here (as previously announced, this is already available for Android), Microsoft said in a blog post.
iPhone manufacturer Apple introduced the addition of widgets to iOS 14 a couple of years ago.
To add the Bing Chat widget to your iPhone’s home screen, follow these steps:
– Press and hold a widget or an empty area on the home screen until the apps start to swing.
– Tap the “+” (Add) button located at the top left corner of the screen.
– Select the widget to add and select its size.
– Tap “Add widget” to add it to your home screen.
– Tap “Done” to end the process.
Note that while adding a widget will take you to the relevant section of the app, interactive widgets were introduced in iOS 17 and require app developers to update their apps accordingly.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has also improved the performance of the voice input button in the Bing mobile app for iOS and Android. It should now show that it’s listening as soon as you tap it.
