Capture Your Fave YouTube Moments Instantly with YouTube’s ‘Save Frame’!
YouTube is the most popular platform for watching videos. You can watch it online, with the desktop app or on your mobile device. Let’s say if you want to take a screenshot of any YouTube video, your options are limited, but soon it won’t be because web browsers want to make it easy to take a photo.
The platform is testing a feature called recording frame that can be accessed by right-clicking on any video playing on YouTube. An important part of the feature is that users will get an option while playing YouTube videos on browsers like Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
It’s not surprising that both browsers will get the feature, as you may know that both share the same Chromium engine. So if developers build something for the mainframe, Google and Microsoft can add it to their own web browsers.
According to reports, the Capture Frame feature allows you to take screenshots of YouTube videos in native resolution and in PNG format, which offers better image quality than JPG. We’ve always believed that taking screenshots shouldn’t be a two- or three-step process, especially online.
Smartphone users can simply click the power and volume up buttons at the same time to take a screenshot. There are even more advanced options available, such as hand gestures for capturing.
So it is welcome for web users who don’t need to use PC keyboard shortcuts like Windows icon + Prt Sc key or Cmd + Arrow for Mac computers. Testing is still ongoing, so we can’t say when the official version of this feature will roll out to all users, but we expect the feature in the coming weeks for Chrome and Edge browsers.
