No Charging? No Problem! Quick Tips to Keep Your iPhone Battery Going Strong
Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to get the most out of your iPhone’s battery, but it starts draining quickly when you need it the most? You are not alone.
In some situations, like when you’re traveling or if you forget to charge your iPhone before leaving for work, it’s hard to get through the day without practically having a full battery. Here, following some basics can go a long way in ensuring that you extend your phone’s battery life. This is especially true for iPhones whose battery health has deteriorated.
Now let’s take a look at some powerful battery saving measures you can implement on your iPhone:
If you have a “Pro” iPhone, do this
If you have a Pro iPhone that supports Always On Display and high refresh rate, disable Always On Display by going to Settings > Display & Brightness > Always On Display, then turn it off.
iPhones do not have the option to reduce the refresh rate of the screen, and here the only option is to enable Low Power mode, which you can find in Settings > Battery. This lowers the refresh rate on iPhone Pro models.
Save iPhone battery life by turning off 5G
If you have a 5G-capable iPhone, you can temporarily turn it off and switch to 4G LTE. We have seen slightly better battery life when using 4G than 5G.
To do this, go to Settings > Mobile service > Mobile data settings > Voice and data > Select LTE.
Disable background app refresh
First, you don’t need to turn this off if you’ve already enabled power saving mode, but if you want to disable Background App Refresh separately, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
This prevents your apps from updating in the background, as it can cause unnecessary iPhone battery drain when you want to save battery.
Turn off “Listen for ‘Hey Siri'”.
If you’re not aware, your iPhone can listen for “Hey Siri,” or now with iOS 17, just the action word “Siri” to activate the virtual assistant, but this also means that when you enable this setting, your iPhone microphones will be active and listening, which may consume more power compared to when it is off. So, if you want to disable this setting, go to Settings > Siri & search > Turn off “Listen for ‘Hey Siri'”.
