ChatGPT iOS App Now Compatible with Siri and Shortcuts
OpenAI has unveiled several enhancements to its iOS app, which includes integration with Shortcuts. With this update, users can generate a ChatGPT prompt in Shortcuts and establish a connection between the AI tool and various applications. This feature enables users to ask ChatGPT to solve a problem or search for information and then send the response to a friend or save it as a note. Additionally, users can now summon ChatGPT using Siri or create these Shortcuts. The iOS version of ChatGPT already employs OpenAI’s Whisper speech recognition for voice input, and Siri’s integration further enhances its accessibility.
A new drag-and-drop feature further integrates ChatGPT on iOS devices, allowing you to drag messages from its interface into other apps. It’s kind of like a physical version of Shortcuts, so you can choose which method you use.
ChatGPT is also better supported on all iPads going forward. Previously, iPad users didn’t get a full-screen experience when using the app – OpenAI had initialized it only for iPhone-sized screens. Now it takes up all the screen real estate you have and preferably provides a less jarring experience.
The updates follow ChatGPT’s recent expansion to Apple platforms. OpenAI launched an iOS app for US users in mid-May and will soon be rolling it out to 11 other countries. Prior to these updates, the app synced chats to your computer and offered ChatGPT Plus subscribers access to GPT-4. While ChatGPT continues to be present on Apple devices, Android owners still have to wait for the app.
