CrowdStrike offers gift cards worth over Rs. 830 as apology following major Microsoft Windows outage
Millions worldwide were impacted by a recent outage caused by a faulty CrowdStrike update on Microsoft Windows. This led to major disruptions in services such as airlines, railways, and banks, as PCs repeatedly rebooted showing the ‘blue screen of death.’ While quick fixes were provided by Microsoft and CrowdStrike, many users still faced issues for days. As a gesture of apology, CrowdStrike is offering partners a $10 Uber Eats gift card and an email notification.
Who gets apology gift cards from CrowdStrike
At first, several users who received Gift Vouchers thought it was a prank, because when the voucher code was used, Uber Eats gave an error message saying “the gift voucher has been canceled by the issuer and is no longer valid”. However, CrowdStrike spokesperson Kevin Benacci has confirmed to TechCruch that the company is sending gift cards and apology emails to “teammates and partners who have helped customers in this situation. Uber reported it as fraud due to high usage rates.”

The affected version of channel file 291 was added to Falcon’s known bad list on CrowdStrike Cloud. We also improved some of our cloud services to dramatically speed up their ability to quickly communicate with the sensor. No sensor updates, new channel files or code were deployed from CrowdStrike Cloud.
