Customers interested in purchasing Apple Vision Pro can now experience a 25-minute in-store demonstration prior to buying.
Apple’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset launches in the US on February 2nd, which is only a few weeks away at this point. Unlike typical iPhone or Mac releases, this event seems to require significant effort from the company – both in terms of marketing and to promote a smoother shopping experience for its customers.
Mark Gurman in his PowerOn newsletter points out that Apple really wants to nail the Vision Pro headset presentation, and in pursuit of that, the iPhone maker has put together a polished 25-minute pitch and demo. Apple has been training hundreds of its employees in Cupertino this month to ensure they provide accurate information and understand the entire process.
Gurman also notes that US Apple Stores have more than a dozen Vision Pro demo units. The demo starts with a retail employee using the app to scan the user’s face in the same way that FaceID is set up. This step ensures that the customer selects the correct size for the Light Seal, foam pad and strips. Light Seal comes in 25 different shapes and sizes, so it’s important to get the right fit.
And for people who wear glasses, Apple is introducing a new device to scan the lenses to get their prescription information. Then Apple Store employees find the right lens from among hundreds of options and assemble the demo headset.
In addition to this, users must go through a calibration process before they can experience the demos. These demos include Spatial Photos, Spatial Video, 3D movies, and the ability to explore several preloaded third-party apps that showcase the headset’s capabilities. Gurman notes that these Demos are designed to be “interesting but not exhausting” so that people will “itch more”.
