Cybertruck Craze: Tesla Draws Black Friday Shoppers to Showrooms!
During the Black Friday retail event, Tesla Inc. showcased its upcoming all-electric vehicle, the Cybertruck, in various US showrooms. This attracted a large number of enthusiastic shoppers who were eager to get a closer look at the truck, which is covered in stainless steel.
At the Tesla showroom at Westfield UTC in San Diego, a group of about 25 people crowded around the only Cybertruck on display while others waited in line outside. Shoppers were forced to stand about 10 meters away from the vehicle, which was roped off, and were told they could not see the interior until the first Cybertruck was delivered to a customer on November 30.
Tesla is “pushing the boundaries of what a truck can be,” said Joseph Smarr, who has been on the Cybertruck waiting list for more than a year, in an interview at the San Diego store. A longtime fan of the company, Smarr already owns a Model S and Model X.
Tesla sells its cars directly to consumers and displays them in modern retail stores, usually located in high-end malls with high foot traffic. Getting people into showrooms also helps the electric vehicle maker reach the next wave of consumers who may be interested in battery-powered vehicles but have a lot of questions about them.
The first Cybertruck customers will receive the vehicles at a launch event at Tesla’s Austin headquarters. The company has not yet released the vehicle’s price or configuration information.
