Daniela Amodei Applauds Joe Biden for Participation in Artificial Intelligence Safety Initiative

Last week, Daniela Amodei, one of the co-founders of Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company, expressed her enthusiasm for the meeting held at the White House with AI leaders, considering it a remarkable initial move towards guaranteeing the safety of this technology.

In an interview with Bloomberg Television on Monday, Amodei emphasized the need to “communicate early and often” with policymakers, academics and other groups in the United States and abroad.

Amodei said the startup, which has announced it has made a safer chatbot, is focused on making sure the latest version of its technology, called Claude 2, returns innocuous answers — even to malicious questions. “Of course, no model on the market is 100 percent immune to jailbreak or completely secure, but in reality our goal is to try to provide a model that is as secure as possible,” he said.

San Francisco-based Anthropic was founded in 2021 by a handful of former OpenAI employees, including Amodei and his brother Dario Amodei. The startup has publicly called for caution in the development and publication competition of artificial intelligence systems and the possible effects of these tools. In May, the company said it had raised $450 million in funding, bringing its total raised to date to over $1 billion.
