Discover the Benefits of Zoom’s AI Companion – But Be Prepared to Pay
The rise of hybrid work arrangements due to the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a significant increase in the availability of online communication platforms. Companies like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet are competing to offer workspace solutions to organizations. This competition has sparked innovation, with these platforms evolving into comprehensive hubs for meetings, document storage, chats, and other functionalities. In order to stay competitive and potentially gain an advantage over its rivals, Zoom has unveiled a revamped AI assistant that will aid users in their daily tasks.
Zoom AI Companion
Zoom is not new to AI technology and has transformed the existing generative AI assistant known as Zoom IQ into the Zoom AI Companion. It can help craft chat responses based on user prompts with the right voice and length. AI Companion can also create summaries and help you catch up on what you’ve missed. Leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, the generative AI assistant can automatically divide cloud recordings into intelligent parts for easy viewing, creating actions and highlighting important information.
In a blog post, the company announced, “We’re excited to introduce you to AI Companion (formerly Zoom IQ), a new generative AI assistant on the Zoom platform. AI Companion empowers individuals by helping them be more productive, connect and collaborate with teammates, and improve their skills.”
Future features
Zoom AI Companion is also getting a feature later this month that will allow it to summarize your chat messages and offer suggested replies. Another upcoming feature will allow the AI assistant to create ideas on a digital whiteboard and organize them into categories. The Zoom Phone is also set to use artificial intelligence features.
With AI Companion, users can access AI-generated analysis of their recorded calls and summaries of voicemails and messages. Additionally, users will soon be able to chat with an AI assistant in ChatGPT-style text-based prompts.
Availability
Zoom AI Companion and its intelligent features are available to Zoom paid subscribers at no additional cost. Free users can upgrade to paid plans to take advantage of Zoom’s AI features.
To navigate the privacy concerns that have plagued Zoom in recent months, the company has announced that “Zoom does not use your audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments, or other communication-like customer content (such as survey results, whiteboards, and reactions) to train Zoom or third-party AI models.”
