Discover the new feature on Spaces: Live videos now available! Learn more about how it works and what it’s all about.
X has been introducing a variety of new features in recent months in an effort to transform the platform beyond just a microblogging site. With the support of billionaire Elon Musk, the app has been striving to remain appealing to users. The latest addition is the live video feature in Spaces, allowing hosts to activate video during chat sessions with a simple button. While there were rumors of Periscope making a return, the live video in Spaces offers a unique experience. Learn more about X’s new live video feature.
X live video at Spaces
According to X’s release, a user named DogeDesigner shared a live video demonstration on Spaces, which Musk later shared as part of the announcement. Within the Spaces feature, X only offered a live audio feature, but users can also share live videos in a group chat. Live video allows the user to use the phone’s front or back camera for their video feed.
This new feature only presents the host’s video feed, and users must join a Spaces session to watch the live broadcast. The Verge reports that X-live video in Spaces is only available for the iOS version of the app, so Android and Windows app users can’t access the feature for now.
How to start a live video on Spaces
- According to the shared video, the first users need to long press the “+” button.
- Users will be presented with a few options from which they can select the Spaces icon.
- Then the “Enable Video” option can be selected to continue the live session.
Note that X’s live video feature in Spaces is completely different from the live broadcast feature.
