iPhone 15 Pro Max has the best camera setup for video, DxOMark findings reveal, and is only behind the Huawei P60 Pro in overall standings.News

DxOMark Gives Highest Rating to iPhone 15 Pro Max for Video Recording

DxOMark, the popular camera evaluation lab, has finally tested the latest Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. According to their findings, this new top-of-the-range iPhone excels at video capture and is the second best phone overall in terms of camera performance – behind only the Huawei P60 Pro.

These findings come as no surprise, as iPhones have consistently led the pack in video capabilities. This year, Apple has strengthened its advantage by introducing the ability to record ProRes LOG video at 4k60 FPS to an external storage device.

This update has opened up options for professionals who can now use the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max for steady client work. The inclusion of LOG video allows for greater flexibility during post-production, especially in color grading, matching other materials and achieving a specific look.

In addition to these improvements, the iPhone 15 Pro Max gets an exclusive 5X lens that significantly improves the iPhone’s zoom capabilities – now offering 25X digital zoom.

DxOMark also praises the iPhone 15 series for its automatic portrait mode switching, new texture management and new SmartHDR 5 technology.

As we stated earlier, in DxOMark’s ranking of top smartphone cameras, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is in second place, while the Huawei P60 Pro takes the top spot. However, it is important to note that the latter is not widely available in regions such as the US and India. This puts the iPhone 15 Pro Max as most people’s favorite camera, effectively making it the unofficial winner of the best camera phone category.

Despite this, both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have a triple camera setup. The iPhone 15 Pro includes a 48-megapixel primary camera, a secondary 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 3X 12-megapixel telephoto lens. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro Max offers the same setup, except for a telephoto lens with a unique 5X “tetraprism” design, equivalent to a 120mm full-frame lens.
