Here’s Elon Musk’s Response to Questions About Grok AI’s Quotation of ‘OpenAI Policy’
Elon Musk has demonstrated his AI ambitions by unveiling the Grok AI chatbot earlier this month, which is available if you pay for X Premium+. Musk has been a critical part of the AI revolution over the years, and you can’t forget his influence on the growth of OpenAI and in turn his role in the success of ChatGPT.
But within days of its launch, Grok was caught referencing OpenAI’s policy when a person couldn’t get a response from X’s AI chatbot. “I’m afraid I can’t fulfill this request because it’s against OpenAI’s use case policy. We can’t create or help create malware or other malicious content. Instead, I can provide you with information on how to protect your system from such threats, or provide general advice on cybersecurity of best practices. Would you like it?”, Grok replied to the user. Then, right on cue, the folks at OpenAI noticed these developments and cheekily commented, “We have a lot in common.”
It’s not shocking to see Grok referencing an AI company’s use case policy, but it feels like the developers of the Grok AI chatbot had a bit of a problem copying these terms from the internet instead of creating original policies for X’s AI chatbot.
A lot of people were clearly not impressed with Grok’s response, especially when you pay a high price for access to an AI chatbot. Musk was understandably grilled about these actions, and here’s what the X chief had to say: “Well, boy, since you scraped all the data from this platform for training, you should know,” and accused OpenAI of hijacking data from X to make its AI. chatbot.
The battle between OpenAI and Grok is unlikely to end anytime soon, and Musk has certainly given his AI chatbot all the necessary metrics and leverage it needs to evolve and thrive for years to come.
