Elon Musk: Uncovering the “Actual Truth” Behind Antisemitism?
Elon Musk, the billionaire, showed support for an antisemitic post on X, the social media platform he owns. The post targeted Jewish individuals, accusing them of promoting “dialectical hatred” towards white people.
“You have spoken the real truth,” Musk said in his response to the post.
Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc. and the world’s richest person with a net worth of about $225 billion, has been repeatedly criticized for promoting anti-Jewish content at a time of rising anti-Semitism.
Last year, the American Jewish Committee, an advocacy group, called on Musk to apologize after he deleted a controversial tweet that made a satirical comparison between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Adolf Hitler.
Earlier this year, Musk blamed the Anti-Defamation League for the collapse in US advertising revenue for X, the social platform formerly known as Twitter.
Ad sales are still down 60% “primarily due to pressure on advertisers,” he said in September, after the organization said reports of harassment and extreme content increased after Musk took over.
At the time, Musk said he was “in favor of free speech” but opposed “anti-Semitism of any kind.”
Responding to an X user on Wednesday who said it’s unfair to make generalizations about Jewish communities that promote hatred of white people, Musk wrote that the person was “right that this doesn’t extend to all Jewish communities, but it’s not limited to the ADL either. .”
He added in another post that “I am deeply offended by the posts of the ADL and any other group that promotes de facto anti-white or anti-Asian racism or racism of any kind.”
Musk did not respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.
FBI Director Christopher Wray told a Senate hearing last month that anti-Semitism is reaching “historic levels” in the United States, CNN reported.
