What to Expect from the Chandrayaan 3 Mission at this Crucial Point

Following the crash of the Russian spacecraft Luna-25 on the moon, concerns have arisen regarding the upcoming landing of Chandrayaan 3. The question of whether history will repeat itself or if India will achieve success remains unanswered until August 23, when the spacecraft is scheduled to touch down on the lunar surface. Although there are numerous complexities involved in the landing process, certain scientists have shed light on a few crucial challenges that the spacecraft may face. One significant obstacle, according to experts, is the daunting task of transitioning the spacecraft’s orientation from horizontal to vertical for landing. Let us delve into this matter further.

Location of Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft

According to a report by ANI, space strategist P.K. Ghosh said: “One of the biggest things there is that it has to get the spacecraft from horizontal to vertical. It’s difficult. All these aspects have to be looked at.” After voicing his concerns about the crash of the Luna-25 spacecraft, Ghosh mentions that a steady landing on the Moon is not as easy as it seems, and we shouldn’t take anything for granted in any kind of space exploration. One small difficulty can hinder the whole task.

On Sunday, the spacecraft completed its final de-powering operation and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced that the spacecraft is fit to land on the lunar surface at 6:04 PM IST on Wednesday.

The space strategist further added, “This is the process where you try to get the spacecraft into a circular orbit, and now it’s almost circular. Perigee is only about 25 kilometers. This is another deboosting, orbit adjustment. Finally, on the 23rd, you’ll see it start to drop.”

Ghosh explains what could have gone wrong with Luna-25, earlier it was reported that the spacecraft has accelerated and will land on August 21, but on Saturday the spacecraft encountered some difficulties in orbit and the landing was delayed to Wednesday. . However, it got into a massive crash.

Now it is hoped that India will not have to face any difficulties during the landing and that the goal of the mission will be achieved as the scientists had planned.
