Explore YouTube Music’s New Mood Filters: Here’s What You Need to Know
Since its launch in 2015, YouTube Music has been working hard to establish itself and solidify its position among dedicated music enthusiasts. While the app bears resemblance to Spotify, it also faces tough competition from Amazon Music and Apple Music. However, thanks to its user-friendly features and extensive range of genres and music choices, the app has managed to attract a substantial number of users. In order to further entice users, YouTube Music has recently introduced five new mood filters that generate playlists based on selected moods. To learn more about these filters, continue reading.
YouTube Music: About the new mood filters
According to a report by 9to5Google. YouTube Music now has five new mood filters: cry, party, romance, feel good, and sleep. Some Redditors also announced new mood filters. While the app’s previous filters included Commute, Energize, Focus, Relax, Exercise, Podcasts, and more, five new mood-based filters can offer the ability to further customize your listening experience based on your mood preferences.
Let’s say a “Cry” filter might contain sad songs and a “Romance” filter might contain playlists full of romantic songs. As of now, the newly added mood filters are only visible on select Android and web apps, and are expected to roll out to more users soon. These additions give users more freedom to listen to music according to their mood. This way they can also play music in their surroundings. For example, the “party” filter can be used to play fun songs during a party.
Please note that the new filters for YouTube Music are rolling out in stages, so not all users may receive them at the same time.
What is a mood filter?
In 2020, YouTube Music introduced a new “Activity Bar” feature that allows users to customize their home page and “My Mixes”. The action bar included a few mood filters that take listers to a new home page with songs and playlists for their chosen mood. In the beginning it only had four mood filters, but several have been added in recent months.
