Exploring the Impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence on AI Appreciation Day
If you are confused about the celebration of ‘AI appreciation day’ and want to know more, you have come to the right place. Artificial intelligence has gained significant attention this year. Although AI has been around for a while, the excitement surrounding it truly began in November 2022 when OpenAI released its AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT, to the public. Since then, this specific area of AI has experienced tremendous growth, with major tech companies rushing to establish their own dedicated AI research and development (R&D) divisions. We have witnessed the emergence of various chatbots like Microsoft’s Bing AI and Google Bard, and it is likely that more are currently being developed.
But interestingly, AI’s heyday was first spotted much earlier than all this. It was first started by AI Heart LLC, an AI-based organization to celebrate the past achievements of AI and increase people’s awareness of this emerging technology. Artificial Intelligence Appreciation Day was celebrated for the first time in 2021.
AI Appreciation Day: Focus on generative artificial intelligence
This year, the day is being celebrated by many companies that are either AI-based or looking to tap into its potential. And a particular focus is on generative artificial intelligence. If you are not aware of it, you should know that generative artificial intelligence is a part of the field that focuses on creating chatbots that can react to people like a human. They can answer your questions, no matter how specific they are, and they can write you an essay, a formal letter, or a computer program. They can also chat with you and become your friend. In fact, many business leaders believe we are still scratching the surface of the potential of generative AI.
Speaking to ReturnByte on the occasion of AI Appreciation Day, CoinSwitch CEO and Co-Founder Ashish Singhal said, “Generative AI has advanced to new levels of maturity and sophistication over the past two years and grown by leaps and bounds. Looking at the fast-paced business world; AI integration and exploration is essential for individuals and organizations to capitalize on opportunities . As we look ahead, AI will be a game changer, democratizing knowledge and transforming industries everywhere.”
How companies plan to use generative AI
One easy implementation would be to utilize its features in customer service. In fact, recently Dukaan founder and CEO Suumit Shah announced on Twitter that he had fired 90% of his customer support team and replaced it with an AI chatbot. While the move didn’t go down well with online retailers, it shows how the future might shape up.
Another way many organizations use generative AI is through “copilots,” as Microsoft would put it. Companies offer generative AI tools as assistants to their main products. In recent months, we’ve seen such tools spring up for basically every Microsoft product, Google Workspace, Google Search, Adobe Photoshop, and more.
And now Twitter CEO Elon Musk has also entered the generative AI race, announcing the formation of xAI to understand the “reality of the universe.” In the live audio session, he also explained that he is launching a generative AI that is not politically correct and does not shy away from speaking the truth. Although nothing is known at the moment, this AI chatbot can be used both on Twitter and in Tesla cars.
And companies believe they’ve only scratched the surface so far. In the coming months and years, generative AI may be responsible for building software, making movies, taking control of unmanned spacecraft and rovers exploring space, and much more.
