Samsung seems to have moved forward with its plans to make a low-cost version of its Galaxy Fold model, but launching the foldable at a lower price could see significant cost-cutting. A news report published this week claims that the company could drop S Pen support for the affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 model.
The premium fold comes with a stylus or S Pen support, which makes Samsung’s foldable much more functional compared to other brands in the segment. But the brand could see more changes to this rumored device, which is likely to include a lower-powered chipset, less storage, and even cameras offered with different sensors.
These are big changes if reports are to be believed, but they allow Samsung to offer an attractive foldable product that is sure to catch everyone’s eye. The affordable Galaxy Fold model is said to be part of the Galaxy A series as well, according to another report, but we’d rather wait for more updates to really consider it a strong possibility. The rumored budget model will launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 6 series when it launches later this year.
Samsung had a big advantage for foldables, and the 5th generation models should count for something. But now things have changed as more brands have entered the segment and have much better offerings in the market. Not having an S Pen could actually benefit the company as people would prefer to use a foldable pen. However, the biggest reason to pay for a foldable is the display, and a company needs to make sure that its display quality isn’t compromised just because it wants to see a cheaper foldable.
