Garena Free Fire India Release Postponed for a Few Weeks
Free Fire India was supposed to launch today, September 5, in a rebranded version after it was banned in the country for almost a year and a half. But the developer announced that the game will be delayed for “a few weeks” before re-launching in India.
This news comes after the developer announced the delay on their social media handles.
“To ensure that we can provide the best possible experience to all our Free Fire India fans from the very beginning, we are postponing the launch by a few more weeks,” Garena said. “In addition to refining the gameplay, we are taking some time to complete the localization of the Free Fire India experience,” it added.
As per the requirements of the Indian authorities, Garena has modified the game and is said to get localized content and characters and double down on eSports to reach a wider user base and strengthen its credibility.
Despite the delay, pre-registrations are open for Android
We previously reported that Garena Free Fire India was up for pre-registration on the Google Play Store, and it still is as of this writing.
To pre-register for the game, you can register in the Google Play Store by clicking this link. You can also enable the “Auto Install” switch to have the game automatically download when it’s released.
Despite this, Garena is partnering with Yotta to provide cloud services in India. Yotta is a company under the Hiranandani Group and this collaboration will enable Garena to comply with Indian rules and restart the game.
Also, developers may want to make sure the game is perfect before releasing it. This is because they don’t want to risk getting banned again.
